"TEST" RUN OF FILM IS SMASHING SUCCESS
May 13, 1999
Southern Heart, the heartwarming romantic comedy starring Peter DeLuise (21
Jump Street, SeaQuest) and introducing Jamie Hendrix Collins and Emily
Carpenter, has been "held over" at the Carmike Theater. Scheduled to only be a
"test" run before its October opening, Southern Heart has played to "sold out"
audiences for the past two weeks and is being held over for a third week.
"After ten (10) years of struggling, the response is not only fulfilling, but
indeed overwhelming" said Collins. "Our mission was to produce a film for the
'lost audience', the audience who has quit going to the movies", Collins
continued, "it is a throwback to the old Cary Grant and Doris Day films of
years ago, a simple, entertaining romantic comedy with heart".
Shot entirely on location in picturesque Mentone, Alabama, this independently
produced feature film was written and produced by Collins and Carpenter, both
native Alabamians, who also play the major female characters. Having met while
attending Auburn University, the duo began this process in 1989 when they
authored the screenplay. In the face of tremendous adversity and plenty of
"naysayers", they persevered to its completion proving once again that "dreams
do come true, even the impossible ones".
Collins and Carpenter, together with Kyle Collins, are the principals of The
Isaac Group, L.L.C., an Alabama limited liability company formed for the
purpose of producing and marketing quality, uplifting entertainment for a broad
based audience. Southern Heart is the company's first feature film.
