WOMAN IS INSPIRED BY MOVIE TO RELOCATE TO MENTONE
September 19, 1999
When Ms. Daisy Anne Elliot of Pintlala, Alabama was deciding on what movie she
wanted to see, she never dreamed that it would be a decision which would
ultimately change her life. In May, 1999, Ms. Elliot had seen an advertisement
for the feature length motion picture, Southern Heart, and decided that she
wanted to go see the movie. Upon seeing the film, the wheels were set in motion
to change her life.
Ms. Elliot had been in the health care industry for twenty-three (23) years.
However, she had always quietly dreamed of opening a "tea room". After seeing
Southern Heart , which was filmed, in its entirety, in Mentone, Alabama, a
small picturesque town set in the mountains of north Alabama, she was so
captivated by the beauty of the area as well as the "graphic message" of the
movie, she decided to go see the film two (2) additional times. After seeing
the movie the third time, she made contact with the DeKalb County Tourist
Association and began her investigation of the area. Upon contacting the
Mentone Inn, a local Bed & Breakfast, she discovered that the owners,
Michael and Sarah Campbell, were looking for someone to serve as the innkeeper.
"I could be your person", Ms. Elliot told them. Within weeks she had made the
decision to relocate to Mentone and take the position.
"The movie was the sole inspiration for my decision", Ms. Elliot stated, "the
film had a very graphic message that spoke to my heart and that message is
simply 'without a vision, the people will perish'." "The desire to live out my
dream was quickened when I saw the film", Ms. Elliot added. After settling into
her new surroundings and looking back on her decision, Ms. Elliot said, "there
are times in our life that we feel God gives us clear direction, for me, this
is one of those times, I have had a sense of peace about my decision and, just
as it was portrayed in the movie, Mentone is an absolutely beautiful and
peaceful place to live. I just want to thank the producers (Jamie Hendrix
Collins, Emily Carpenter & Kyle Collins) for pursuing their dream in order
to inspire me to pursue mine".
Southern Heart is a lighthearted romantic comedy starring Peter DeLuise (21
Jump Street, Sea Quest) and introducing Jamie Hendrix Collins. In addition to
starring in the film, Ms. Collins, together with Ms. Emily Carpenter, also
wrote the story and screenplay and produced this independent movie.
