COMMENDING JAMIE HENDRIX COLLINS AND EMILY CARPENTER AND THEIR FILM, SOUTHERN
HEART

WHEREAS, it is with sincere pleasure and a great sense
of pride that the Alabama Senate recognizes Jamie Hendrix Collins and Emily
Carpenter and their outstanding film, Southern Heart; and
WHEREAS, both Alabama natives, Jamie Hendrix Collins
and Emily Carpenter graduated from Auburn University with a broad background
and a wide range of experiences in drama and in theater; and
WHEREAS, from its conception in 1989 to its
culmination as full length feature film some nine years later, Southern Heart
was the passion and fulfillment of a lifelong dream for Jamie Hendrix Collins
and Emily Carpenter, and a rewarding opportunity for writing, producing and
acting in their first feature film; and
WHEREAS, Southern Heart is a lighthearted romantic
comedy, filmed in the foothills of North Alabama in the community of Mentone,
atop picturesque Lookout Mountain, depicting the charm and character of Mentone
locals and the southern way of life; it is a tender love story, a tale of
family, love, and forgiveness with a heartwarming ending; and
WHEREAS, for Jamie Hendrix Collins and Emily Carpenter
it was also a labor of love fraught with unyielding hardship and adversity but
faced with equally fierce determination and commitment; now therefore,
BE IT SO RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE LEGISLATURE OF
ALABAMA, that we hereby most highly commend and congratulate Jamie Hendrix
Collins and Emily Carpenter, two young Alabamians of whom we are justly proud,
for their outstanding achievement in the creation and production of their
feature film, Southern Heart.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution
be provided for them as a measure of out tribute and esteem, and sincere best
wishes for every future success.
